Roulette Payouts: What You Need to Know

Roulette odds and payouts you need to learn to ace your game

Just like most gamblers, I started my gambling journey with slot machines. Somewhere along the way, I wanted something new. I’ve always walked past the roulette tables and thought it looked really interesting, and that’s how I got started with roulette.

When I first started playing roulette, I was overwhelmed by the number of bets I could place on a roulette wheel. As someone who’s transitioned from slot machines not too long ago, I wasn’t expecting the game to be this complicated.

Unlike slot machines, where you’re only choosing how many coins to bet on each line and press on the spin button to wager, there’s a whole lot more that you have to consider before placing a bet in roulette.

Types of Bets

There are two main type of bets in roulette – the inside and outside bet. A quick way to determine what belongs to inside and outside bets would be to look at the roulette table.

You’ll notice that the numbers located within the box are in black in red, these are the inside bets. Outside bets are colored green, surrounding the inside bets.

Inside Bets

Betting on a single number is called a straight-up; split bet is for two numbers; street bet for three numbers; corner/square bet for four numbers; and you can also make a five-number/six-number bet.

Outside Bets

Players who choose to place an outside bet can choose from a range of bets like betting on red or black, columns, odd or even, range (low or high), or dozens.

Payouts on Inside and Outside Bets

The payouts vary depending on the roulette variant. American roulette has a lower RTP (return to player) rate of 94.74%, while the European and French variant’s RTP rate is 97.3%.

That’s not all, the bets you place can also determine your payout. If you bet on inside bets, you’ll win lesser, but when you do, you’ll receive more payouts. However, with outside bets, it’s the other way round.

Inside Bets

A straight up bet pays 35 to 1; split bet pays 17 to 1; street bet pays 11 to 1; corner bet pays 8 to 1; five-number bet pays 6 to 1, while a six-number bet pays 5 to 1.

Outside Bets

All outside bets pay 1 to 1, except for if you bet on columns or dozens, which pays 2 to 1.

What You Can do to Increase Your Payout

There are several ways players can stand a better chance of winning and receive higher payouts. It’s important for players to understand the basics of roulette Beginner’s Comprehensive Guide to Playing Roulette before placing any bets at all to avoid losing out too much.

One way is to employ several strategies throughout your gameplay to see which strategy suits your playing style the best. Instead of playing blindly, having a strategy is the best way to increase your chances of winning.

Another way is by picking the roulette variant offering a higher payout, which in this case, is the European and French variant. However, picking these two variants doesn’t mean you’ll win all the time, as this depends on the kind of bets you place (and your luck).

Remember that the most important thing while gambling is to be responsible. Always keep yourself in check and don’t overspend your budget. A game may have high RTP rate, but that doesn’t mean you’ll get to win every single time. If you’d like to learn more about roulettes, read some of our articles here .roulettereaper.org
